Office hours

and request for second opinion

On the one hand, the consultation serves to answer specific questions about the indication for surgical therapy.

Frequently, a "second opinion" is requested in order to suggest alternatives for a planned treatment in the case of chronic pancreatitis or pancreatic tumors. Within the scope of this consultation activity, opportunities arise for the recruitment of pancreatic patients for clinical studies underway in the clinic.

In the pancreas consultation, patients who have undergone surgery at our clinic are followed up and, if necessary, treated on a longer-term basis. This includes regular tumor follow-up as well as metabolic monitoring after pancreatic resection or loss of function due to inflammation. Therapy is carried out according to a regimen that is adapted to the respective disease.

In addition, the pancreas clinic sees out-of-town patients worldwide, on the one hand via Internet consultation or telephone inquiries, and on the other hand patients who are referred directly for outpatient presentation.

The number of internet inquiries, as well as telephone consultations, is constantly increasing due to increasing acceptance on the internet and dissemination of our address by various press organs. About 375 telephone calls and internet letters are processed monthly. About 20 % of the inquiries come from abroad, of which about 40 % concern inflammatory changes and 60 % pancreatic tumors. Thus, a total of about 4,500 external contacts are made annually.
