Forum Visceral Medicine - Interdisciplinary Event

The series "Forum Visceral Medicine" was resumed and the kick-off event was opened by the medical director of the Department of Surgery

Forum Visceral Medicine - Topic Pancreatic Cancer

After a long break, the Department of Surgery invited colleagues and staff to the traditional event "Forum Visceral Medicine" on May 10 in the lecture hall for a "lecture with drinks and finger food". In order to do justice to the topic of "pancreatic carcinoma - individual diagnosis and therapy" in a multimodal approach, speakers from the relevant partner disciplines were invited, who led through the event with their presentations.

Along a common thread, following the major stages of treatment, we hear from the NCT Prof. Dirk Jäger on "Neoadjuvant chemotherapy, personalized oncology and tumor vaccination strategies", Prof. Peter Schirmacher from the Institute of Pathology about "Historical and molecular pathology of pancreatic cancer: new markers and targets", Prof. Miriam Klauss from the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology talked about "High-resolution cross-sectional imaging in pancreatic tumors" and when to use which diagnostics. We learned details about "Complex endoscopy, endosonography, biopsy, bile drainage and more" from Prof. Patrick Michl from Gastroenterology, PD. Dr. Jakob Liermann, representing Prof. Jürgen Debus, presented "Options in precision radiotherapy for patients with pancreatic cancer". Last but not least, Prof. Markus Weigand from the Department of Anesthesiology presented "Perioperative, individualized management of complex pancreatic resections" and the surgeon Prof. Christoph Michalski "Tailored surgery: open, radical, robotic".

Hoping to cover the entire spectrum of treatment, we would especially like to point out the current innovations and considerable progress in multimodality, which allows us to improve the prognosis for our patients. Therefore, the above-average attendance of referring colleagues was a great pleasure for us; we are convinced that we can help people who cannot be helped elsewhere due to the given infrastructure and expertise at our location.
